Hyderabad: A complaint has been filed against Telugu actor Allu Arjun and the makers of Pushpa 2: The Rule by Congress leader and Telangana MLC Theenmar Mallanna. The complaint, lodged on Sunday, demands strict action against the film’s director Sukumar, actor Allu Arjun and the production team for a controversial scene in the movie.
Theenmar Mallanna objected to a specific scene in the newly released film where Allu Arjun’s character is shown urinating in a swimming pool while a police officer is present in it. The Congress leader labelled the scene as ‘disrespectful,’ alleging that it demeans the dignity of law enforcement personnel. He urged authorities to take immediate action against the filmmakers for what he described as an insult to the police force.
This complaint comes in the wake of mounting controversies surrounding the actor and his recent release. Earlier this month, a stampede-like situation at a cinema hall in Hyderabad during the premiere of Pushpa 2 led to the death of a 35-year-old woman, Revathi and injuries to her eight-year-old son. Thousands of fans had gathered outside the theatre to catch a glimpse of Allu Arjun.
Following the incident, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy criticised Arjun for visiting the theatre without police permission, an allegation the actor has denied. The Hyderabad Police subsequently registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management.
Allu Arjun Arrested In Stampede Case
On December 13, Allu Arjun was arrested in connection with the stampede incident but was granted a four-week interim bail by the Telangana High Court and released from custody.
The controversy escalated further on Sunday when the actor’s residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, was vandalized. A group claiming to be members of the Osmania University Joint Action Committee stormed the property, damaged parts of it, and raised slogans demanding justice for the deceased woman.
