The State Congress Committee (PCC) has intensified its activities regarding the upcoming civic elections in Uttarakhand. The party has assigned the responsibility to observers in the districts to prepare for the elections. However, observers have not yet been able to register their presence in some bodies, due to which there is confusion among the leaders making claims.

Laziness of supervisors became a challenge

PCC has received complaints from many districts that the observers have not yet reached the responsible bodies. In view of this situation, on Sunday the party activated the observers and directed them to visit the missing bodies as soon as possible and submit the report to the state office by December 25.

On the basis of this report, further election process will be expedited.

Competition among ticket claimants

There has been a huge increase in the number of claimants for tickets in the civic elections. So far, around 1500 applications have been received by PCC from across the state. There is intense competition among the contenders for distribution of tickets.

Co-incharge Surendra Sharma active in the field

Uttarakhand Congress co-in-charge Surendra Sharma has taken charge of the election preparations. He is constantly meeting party workers and taking stock of the preparations.

  • Meetings in Tehri district on Sunday:
Sharma held a meeting with the workers of district Devprayag in Dhalwala. He discussed the election strategies of the organization and the activism of the workers.
  • Meeting with Parvadoon Congress Committee:
He also discussed with the workers of Parvadun area and took stock of the preparations for the civic elections.

Meetings in Haridwar on Monday

Co-in-charge Sharma will visit Haridwar district on Monday. Here he will hold a meeting with the workers of the Metropolitan and Rural Congress Committee and review the election preparations.

Civic elections: Congress’ priority

Uttarakhand Congress is considering the civic elections as a big opportunity. The party has prepared a strategy to strengthen the organization and activate the workers for better performance in this election.

Focus of the party in the coming days:

  • Observers’ report: Ticket distribution and announcement of candidates after receiving the reports by 25th December.
  • Emphasis on local issues: To include local issues of the public in the election agenda.
  • Active participation of workers: Mobilizing Congress workers in election campaign in every area.

The civic elections in Uttarakhand could prove to be a big political front for the party, where the Congress is trying to test its organizational strength and strengthen its hold among the public.
