Dhaka: Attacks on Hindu homes, temples and shops are increasing in Bangladesh. In the last two days, fundamentalists have taken four temples hostage and vandalized them extensively. According to reports, the attackers desecrated and broke about eight statues. This year alone, 2200 incidents of attacks on Hindus have been reported in Bangladesh. While 88 incidents of atrocities on Hindus have been reported in the last two months, India’s trade with Bangladesh is going on normally. At present the question being discussed is why the Modi government at the Center is not imposing economic sanctions to suppress Bangladesh?
In Mymensingh area of Bangladesh, fundamentalists surrounded two temples and vandalized them. Two idols were broken in the Bondarpara temple here. Later the temple of Kali Mata was attacked in which the idol of Mataji was broken. A total of four temples were attacked in 48 hours in three districts of Bangladesh, Mymensingh, Dinajpur, Natore, in which eight statues were broken. When temples were looted on a large scale. Priest Tarun Chandra Das died in this attack. Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen gave information about the attack on temples and the murder of the priest on Twitter. He said that Bangladesh once belonged to Hindus, now it has been captured by deadly Jihadis.
Recently, the Parliament of India revealed the statistics of attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, this year there have been 2200 such attacks. After the ouster of Sheikh Hasina from power, fundamentalists are continuously attacking Hindus. India’s trade with Bangladesh continues despite a worrying increase in attacks. Bangladesh depends on India for most of its daily needs. India imports cotton, grains, sugar, electrical goods, steel and other commodities from Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s textile industry accounts for 11 percent of the country’s GDP. This industry is dependent on Indian cotton. Despite such attacks on Hindus, trade between the two countries continues. India has not yet announced any measures to stop the trade. India has already stopped trade several times due to disputes with Pakistan. However, no such decision has been taken yet in the case of Bangladesh.
On the other hand, Kolkata ISKCON spokesperson Radharaman Das posted a video on Twitter and claimed that a Hindu temple in Natore was attacked and openly looted, with the temple priest Tarun Chandra Das brutally murdered. His body was found with his hands and legs tied. This proves that the priest must have been tortured a lot before being killed. Expressing his anger, another priest said that the level of violence against Hindus has increased so much that talks alone will not solve it. Amidst the attacks, a commission of the interim government of Bangladesh has prepared an anti-India report. It has been claimed that Sheikh Hasina has many opponents who are suspected to be imprisoned in Indian jails. Many Bangladeshi citizens may still be imprisoned in Indian jails. When Sheikh Hasina was in power, her opponents were picked up from Bangladesh and taken to India where they were put in jails. Some of these Bangladeshis may still be imprisoned in Indian jails.
Why delay in imposing economic sanctions against Bangladesh: Hindu organization
Hindu organizations including Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are already angry over the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh. Angered by the Modi government not taking concrete steps against the killings and atrocities of Hindus in Bangladesh, Hindu organizations are protesting aggressively. Leaders of many organizations including the RSS are questioning the Modi government as to why there is a delay in imposing economic sanctions against Bangladesh? Now this resentment has increased further due to this incident. India may threaten Bangladesh due to lack of basic necessities of life in Bangladesh Recently, the interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus reached out to India for help. India needed to demand a guarantee for the safety of Hindus in return for help from the Yunus government.
