Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The four-day-long protest by MPPSC candidates ended after 89 hours in the wee hours of Sunday. Later in the afternoon, a delegation of candidates met Chief Minister Mohan Yadav in Bhopal to present their demands.

The candidates submitted a memorandum demanding reforms to ensure greater transparency in the recruitment process. The CM assured the candidates that the government is considering their demands with a positive approach.

Around 2,000 students had been part of the protest, and two candidates had gone on an indefinite hunger strike of which one fainted as his health deteriorated on Saturday.

Late on Saturday night, collector Asheesh Singh and other administration officials reached the protest venue around 3 am and assured the students that their demands would be addressed, except those which are sub-judice.

After a one and half hour long discussion, the students and administration came on the same page and they called off their protest. In the meeting with the Chief Minister, the candidates explained their problems and CM Yadav assured them of appropriate action.

The Chief Minister directed the officials concerned to take appropriate steps to redress the demands of the MPPSC candidates. He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing maximum employment opportunities to youths.

With this assurance, the students ended their protest and peacefully left the protest site. The students are now hopeful that the remaining issues will be resolved soon.

Government working on demands

1. Recruitment will be done on maximum posts.        

2. Interview marks will be reduced and it will be conducted without identification.   

3. The 87/13 formula will be resolved soon.          

4. A committee will be formed to improve MPPSC in which one member will be from the students’ side.          

5. Interviews for Assistant Professor will be held soon.         

6. The government will create a portal to improve the recruitment process, in which suggestions will be taken from students.
