Skoda is set to showcase the new Octavia RS and Kodiaq SUV at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Show, marking their India debut. While the Skoda Kodiaq will be seen in the country for the first time, the Octavia RS brings back a legacy, following the limited-run RS 230 and RS 245 models sold as CBUs.
Skoda RS 230 made its debut in 2017, while the more powerful RS 245 was introduced at the Auto Expo 2020. Both models gained popularity among enthusiasts, and the new Octavia RS is expected to carry forward the performance-oriented legacy.
Skoda Octavia, which was assembled in India and sold between 2021 and 2023, was discontinued due to the introduction of BS6.2 emissions norms. While it is no longer available in India, the car continues to be sold overseas, where it has received a mid-life facelift. At the upcoming Bharat Mobility Show, Skoda will display the fourth-generation Octavia RS to gauge customer interest. Powered by a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine producing 265hp and 370Nm, this performance-focused sedan is expected to be introduced in limited numbers in India later, and will likely come at a premium price as a CBU.
Skoda Kodiaq |
In a recent update, Skoda Auto India has announced a price increase of up to 3% across its entire range of vehicles, effective January 1, 2025. This price adjustment will affect popular models like the Kushaq, Slavia, Superb, and Kodiaq. However, the newly launched Kylaq will continue to offer its introductory pricing until it hits 33,333 bookings, giving customers a limited opportunity to purchase the SUV at its current price. Skoda attributed the price hike to rising input and operational costs, reiterating its commitment to providing premium vehicles while maintaining high quality and customer satisfaction.
