Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A couple and a youth were duped of Rs 8 lakh on the pretext of a job at Ordnance Factory Khamaria in Jabalpur. The accused promised a job of accountant in the factory in exchange for the said cash.

The accused has been identified as Ankit Rajak, a resident of Kanchanpur. According to information, the victims were looking for a job when they came in contact with accused Rajak. Rajak promised jobs to all three in the accounts department of Ordnance Factory Khamaria—the facility that manufactures arms and ammunitions for the Indian Defence Forces.

The accused demanded a total of Rs 8 lakh cash from them in exchange for the job. Desperate for the big opportunity, they agreed and paid the amount in installments in October. After some time, when the victims did not get any official intimation, they approached Rajak. The accused, in an attempt to pacify and convince them, gave them a fake medical certificate for the job.

Two months on, when the victims received no official confirmation from the O.F., Khamaria, they realised they were defrauded. All three approached the Panagar police station and filed a complaint against Ankit Rajak on Friday.

Anand Kaladgi, ASP of Jabalpur, said a case was registered and investigation is underway.
