Mira Bhayandar: The notorious Bol Bachchan gang (glib talkers) are not only striking at will in the twin-city, but are also devising innovative ways of robbing people, especially women and senior citizens.
About The Case
In a recent incident, a 67-year-old woman who works at an industrial unit in Bhayandar was robbed of gold ornaments worth Rs 72,000 by a man who was accompanied by a boy (aged around 12 years).
In her statement to the police, the complainant Zaibunissa Ansari (67) a resident of Malad was headed to her workplace in Bhayandar (east), last week. After disembarking at the Bhayandar railway station, she was walking to her workplace when she was accosted by the accused who was accompanied by a child who he claimed was his son. Referring to her as a mother-like figure, the man said that he had a quarrel with wife and requested Ansari to mediate and reconcile the dispute for the sake of his son.
Moved by their plight, Ansari agreed and the trio headed back to the railway station. Upon reaching the foot-over-bridge, the man engaged Ansari into a vague conversation and asked her to remove her ornaments which he claimed to show his wife. To gain Ansari’s trust, he doled out a wad of plain pieces of paper concealed between two original Rs 500 notes. An unsuspecting Ansari complied and handed over her gold ear-rings and chain to the man who wrapped the ornaments in a handkerchief and gave it back to the woman before disappearing from the spot along with his “son”.
After reaching her workplace she opened the handkerchief and was shocked to find only pebbles instead of the ornaments. The accused had apparently exchanged the handkerchief with the sleight of his hand.
An offence under sections 318 (4) (cheating) and 3(5) (joint criminal liability) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) was registered at the Navghar police station against the accused on Friday (20, December). As further investigations were underway, the unique methods adopted by the members of the notorious Bol-Bachchan gang to rob citizens has left the police at their wits.
