A shocking video has surfaced on social media, showing a stampede-like situation at an event organised by Kathavachak Pandit Pradeep Mishra in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district.
According to the news agency IANS, a stampede occurred on the sixth day of Pandit Pradeep Mishra’s Katha, resulting in injuries to many women and elderly people caught in the chaos.
The incident reportedly began after a scuffle broke out when a bouncer attempted to control the crowd. As per IANS, over one lakh people have been attending the Katha daily.
Following the report of the incident, police and administrative officers promptly arrived at the scene after receiving information about the stampede.
Speaking on the incident, DM Deepak Meena told the news agency that preliminary information indicated a minor scuffle between two individuals. A couple of videos of the incident have since gone viral.
“We have inspected the situation on-site. There is no evidence of any significant harm or serious altercation. The situation is under control, and all relevant officers are present at the location. We will provide further updates as more details are confirmed,” he added.
