A dispute that allegedly occurred between former corporator from Nerul and three other youths, who had gone to watch the movie Pushpa-2, led to an incident of assault on Saturday night at Seawoods Mall. After the incident, a case was filed by the former corporator Suraj Patil against the manager, supervisor and security guard of the theatre and three other men identified as Ijhar Shaikh, Wajid Alam and Sajid Alam.
According to the complaint registered, Patil had gone to watch the movie on Saturday night when the three men seated near them were allegedly passing comments which was disturbing the family and it lead to an argument between them. Patil went out seeking help from the theater management. According to Patil, the manager, supervisor and security guard of the theatre did not help him and instead allegedly started abusing him and assaulting him. Patil’s nephew who tried to intervene was also pushed off by them, alleged Patil. The complainant along with others finally reached NRI police station after which on the allegation made by Patil, a FIR was lodged by the NRI police. “Meanwhile, we have also registered a non-cognisable offence against Patil on the complaint of the management of the theatre,” a police officer from NRI police station said.
The investigations in the case is further going on, said the police. The case was registered under the sections of unlawful assembly, rioting, voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.
