Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Anuj Sharma from Dharsiwa assembly constituency highlighted the issue of massive illegal land plotting and encroachment in his constituency during the second day of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly’s winter session on Tuesday through a call attention motion.
Sharma pointed out that unauthorized plotting has reached alarming levels in Dharsiwa and urged the Revenue Minister to take strict action against those involved in these activities. He also reminded that same question he raised in the assembly last year, and more than 9 months passed and action has yet to be initiated.
In response, Revenue Minister Tankram Verma acknowledged the complaints of illegal plotting and assured that after consulting reports from the Tehsildar and Patwari, appropriate actions would follow. He also announced that the state government would soon introduce new regulations to combat illegal plotting. The Minister assured a committee will be formed to look into the matter of land encroachments.
Sharma further addressed illegal plotting occurring near villages surrounding the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. Speaker Dr. Raman Singh expressed concern over this issue and instructed the Revenue Minister to address illegal plotting in the Vidhan Sabha area within a month and report back to the Assembly.
Additionally, BJP MLAs Rajesh Munat and Ajay Chandrakar called on the state government to immediately curb illegal plotting and unauthorized colonies in urban areas. They urged Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary to create provisions to prevent such encroachments.
In his announcement, Finance Minister Choudhary confirmed that the state government would soon implement rules to tackle illegal plotting and unauthorized colonies. He mentioned that strict action will be initiated against illegal plotting and unauthorized colonies which are not approved under RERA and Town and Country Planning.
