Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Minister for Women and Child Development Department Nirmala Bhuria has in a written reply informed the House that there is no proposal to increase money under the government’s popular scheme Ladli Behna Yojna.

She was replying to the questions raised by legislators in the House on Tuesday. Legislators Pratap Grewal and Mahesh Parmar put up a question over hike in the amount being paid under Ladli Behna Yojna. Women are getting Rs 1,250 a month under the scheme.

In its election manifesto, the BJP promised to increase it to Rs 3,000. When the by-elections were being held, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that there would be registration of fresh beneficiaries under the scheme, but in her reply, Bhuria made it clear that there was no such proposal.

When the scheme was implemented, it was said that programme was launched to improve the women’s body mass index (BMI), level of anaemia, and their financial condition.

When the legislators wanted information about whether these targets were achieved or not, Bhuria said there was no survey on these aspects. But for Ladli Behna Yojna, the government is doing fresh registration for other schemes, Bhuria said.
