Jaipur: Ten students of a coaching institute of Jaipur were hospitalized after they fainted due to a strange odor from a drain on Sunday evening. Taking action, the Municipal Corporation has sealed the coaching institute on Monday morning.

The incident happened Utkarsh Coaching in the Mahesh Nagar area of Jaipur where at around 6:45 pm on Sunday evening due to strange odor the students complained of difficulty in breathing and severe headache and ten students fainted who were rushed to the hospital.

Initial investigations ruled out food poisoning. The police suspect that toxic fumes from a drain behind the coaching center might have caused the incident.

According to the officials, two students are still in hospital while the rest have been discharged after first aid.

The team of Municipal Corporation has taken water samples and footage of CCTV cameras installed in the classroom of the institute.

The deputy commissioner of the Municipal Corporation Laxmikant Katara said “samples have been taken. We are looking into the incident and there is nothing like gas leakage, the investigation is on, and the coaching will remain sealed until it completes.”

A Six-member committee of Municipal Corporation officials has been constituted to investigate the incident.

Reacting to the incident, former CM Ashok Gehlot said that the accident at coaching institute in Jaipur on Sunday night is worrying. The Congress government had built the coaching hub to provide good environment. All coaching institutes should be immediately shifted to the coaching hub created by the previous government.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot said that this is a worrying incident and should be investigated. The government should issue rules for all coaching institutes and ensure that they are strictly followed to avoid such incidents.
