Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Snowfall in the hilly regions has intensified the cold wave across northern India.
Madhya Pradesh has been experiencing cold weather for the past seven days, with 37 districts, including Bhopal and Jabalpur, placed under cold wave alert. The temperature in Shahdol has dropped to 1°C.
In Uttar Pradesh, Ayodhya recorded 2.5°C, and Kanpur saw its lowest temperature in 13 years at 4.5°C. Rajasthan has issued an orange alert for extreme cold.
The weather department has issued cold wave alerts for 14 states, including Punjab and Haryana. In Uttarakhand, after heavy snowfall, the ‘Om’ mountain is covered in snow, revealing a natural ‘Om’ shape. Other regions like Kedarnath and Gangotri have experienced up to one foot of snow.

17 December: Heavy rain is expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and parts of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Dense fog is likely in Haryana and UP, with visibility concerns.
18 December: Rainfall will continue in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and Karnataka, with thunderstorms expected. Rajasthan will continue to experience cold wave conditions.
19 December: Cold wave conditions will persist in north and central India, while southern states will witness continued rainfall and strong winds.
