Veteran Bhojpuri actor Vijay Khare, widely known for his iconic portrayal of Gabbar Singh, passed away at 4 a.m. today, December 15, at Kauvery Hospital in Bengaluru while undergoing treatment. According to several reports, the actor had been unwell for sometime, however, the exact cause of his death has not been disclosed.

Khare’s demise left his fans and the industry in shock. Born in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, Vijay had acted in over 200 Bhojpuri movies and was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019, for his contributions to the Bhojpuri cinema, which was celebrated by many Bhojpuri actors, including Ravi Kishan, Nirahua, and Manoj Tiwari.

During the award ceremony, he talked about the increasing involvement of younger talent and discussed the changing nature of Bhojpuri cinema, which once struggled to make its mark and demaned the need for efforts to restore Bhojpuri cinema to its former glory.

Vijay resided in Mumbai, where he ran his own acting school called Vijay Khare Academy, dedicated to mentoring aspiring actors.

Khare starred in iconic Bhojpuri films like Raijzada, Ganga Kinare Mora Gaon, and Hamra Se Biyaah Karba, leaving a lasting impact on the industry.

Though he stayed in Mumbai, Vijay’s connection to his roots in Muzaffarpur remained strong. He often expressed pride in his hometown and credited it as a source of inspiration for his career in Bhojpuri cinema.
