Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Hired 12 days ago, a Nepalese domestic help along with his associate decamped with cash, jewellery and valuables worth Rs 1.5 crore from the house of his employer after serving him food laced with sedatives.
The accused fled in the businessman’s SUV to evade the residential society’s security and abandoned it near Teen Imli Square, which was recovered by the police. The incident happened in Silver Spring phase 1 under the Tejaji Nagar police station limits in the intervening night of Thursday-Friday. The victim was rushed to hospital, who gained consciousness the next evening.
The police have launched a manhunt for the accused after registering a case. The house owner, Aneesh Mohammad, a real estate businessman, said he was living alone in the city with his Persian dog as his wife lives in Mhow and son studies in Dehradun. He had hired a Nepalese domestic help, Deepesh, on December 1 through his friend’s agency, which also provided security for his business.
On Thursday, the victim came home in the evening and asked his staff to cook food. After having dinner, he felt uneasy and fell asleep. The next day, his female employee came to the house as he was not receiving phone calls and found the house ransacked and the businessman unconscious. About Rs 19 lakh in cash, jewellery and at least 20 expensive watches and other valuables worth Rs 1.5 crore were found missing.
Toss CCTV DVR in bucket
The accused threw the DVR of CCTV cameras in a bucket filled with water to erase trace. However, as the cameras were connected to Wi-Fi, the entire incident was captured in cameras installed in the house. Deepesh was seen allowing his associate to enter the house around 1 am and they left around 4 am. The accused also partied in the house, consumed alcohol and smoked cigarettes while robbing the place.
Accused informed sister about quitting job
Aneesh said that on the same night, the accused called his sister in Delhi informing her that he was leaving his job. She called the victim’s friend and told him about this. His friend called him the next morning and his female employee, who first witnessed the incident.
