Jaipur: Former MLA of Rajasthan Girraj Singh Malinga has been granted bail from the Supreme Court. Bench of Justice MM Sundaresh and Justice Arvind Kumar has granted bail to Malinga.
The Supreme Court has asked the trial court to decide the conditions of bail. On behalf of the state government, Additional Advocate General Shiv Mangal Sharma opposed the bail stating that the accused faces serious charges.
Girraj Singh Malinga is accused of attacking an assistant engineer and junior engineer of the state electricity department while he was an MLA of ruling Congress party in 2022. AEN Harshdapati had filed a case against Malinga and others for assault, obstruction in government work and the SC-ST Act. Five persons were arrested in the case.
Following the Supreme Court order in the case, Malinga surrendered in the SC-ST court of Dholpur district on November 20.
In its order, the Apex court has directed the trial court to impose stringent conditions during the trial proceedings. The trial court is expected to issue the bail conditions in the coming days, ensuring that Malinga adheres to judicial norms and does not interfere with the ongoing investigation or legal proceedings In the last assembly election, Malinga had joined BJP and contested the election on BJP ticket but lost to BSP’s Jaswant Singh Gurjar.
