Team India batter Shubman Gill has taken a dig at Pat Cummins’ claims of Australia gaining success from short-pitched deliveries against Team India during the pink-ball Test in Adelaide. The right-handed batter recalled that the hosts didn’t seem to have as much success and is surprised at the Aussie captain’s claims.

Cummins notably dismissed KL Rahul and Nitish Kumar Reddy in the second innings of the Adelaide Test via the short-pitched delivery. The right-arm speedster, who took a fifer, went on to get the better of Harshit Rana as well with the ploy and almost got Mohammed Siraj too but Alex Carey dropped a catch behind the stumps.

Speaking at a presser, here’s how Gill responded to Cummins, who warned of another short-ball ploy at the Gabba.

“Short ball pe safalta, I think tailender ko chodke I think ek hee batsman out hua short ball pe. Toh mujhe pata nahin kaunsi safalta ki woh baat kar rahe hain.”

(Success with the short ball, I think only one batter apart from a tailender got dismissed from it. So, I don’t know what success is he talking about.)

“We are considering it as a three-match series” – Shubman Gill

Despite the demoralising ten-wicket loss in Adelaide, the Punjab-born asserted that the vibe is quite good in the camp and reckons a win in Brisbane will give the tourists a massive upper hand. He said, as quoted by India Today.

“The mood is very good in the camp. We had our team dinner only yesterday. We had a lot of fun during the dinner. Yes, the Adelaide Test did not go the way we wanted it to be. But, we are considering it as a three-match series. If we win this match, then in Melbourne and Sydney, we will have the upper hand.”

Gill had notably scored a match-winning 91 in Brisbane during the fourth innings of the final Test of the 2020-21 series.
