Supreme Court of India on Wednesday (December 11) relaxed bail condition of Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia’s in the alleged liquor policy scam case. Now, Sisodia will not have to remain present before the probe agencies twice each week. However, he will have to attend the trial hearings.

The Supreme Court bench of KV Viswanathan and BR Gawai observed that there was no condition that required Sisodia to appear before probe agencies twice per week.

Sisodia was represented by senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi and advocate Vivek Jain who requested the court that Sisodia be exempted from appearance before the police every Monday and Thursday.

Singhvi explained that Sisodia had already appeared 60 times and that such a condition was not imposed on any other accused in the alleged liquor scam case.

Sisodia is currently on bail. As the court granted bail earlier, it said that there was no possibility of him fleeing.

Sisodia was arrested in February 2023 by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) over alleged irregularities in the now-junked excise policy in Delhi. Sisodia is in judicial custody now.

CBI has alleged that Sisodia played central role in alleged criminal conspiracy connected with the excise policy. The probe agency has said that Sisodia was actively involved in framing as well as the implementation of the policy.
