Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): A major drama erupted at the public hearing in Chhatarpur on Tuesday, when a young man attempted to self-immolate himself by pouring diesel. However, the security personnel present at the scene quickly intervened and stopped the man, preventing a serious incident.
The man, identified as Jitendra Mishra, was subsequently taken into custody. According to reports, Mishra is a resident of Muderi Mishran Purwa village under the Lavkushnagar police station area.
On August 14,he was allegedly assaulted by Krishna Kant Garg and his accomplices, Puppu Garg, Ganesh Garg, Satyam Tiwari, Deepu Tiwari, Ballu Mishra, and Raju Shukla. Following Jitendra’s complaint, an FIR was registered at the Lavkushnagar police station. On September 29, the police arrested three of the accused, Satyam, Deepu, and Raju but the remaining suspects are still at large.
Jitendra allege that Krishna Kant Garg and the other absconding accused have been pressuring him to withdraw the case and have been issuing death threats. Frustrated by the lack of action and justice, Jitendra has been visiting various police officials, pleading for help, but no action has been taken. This led him to attempt self-immolation during the public hearing at the Collector’s office.
