Thane: A watchman was injured after a gas cylinder explosion that had been kept in a closed cart parked for several months in Badlapur on Tuesday morning. The injured watchman has been identified as Neeraj Shah, a watchman of a housing complex located in Manjarli village in Badlapur.
The police said the incident took place in Manjarli village in Badlapur on Tuesday at 10 AM when Shah was sweeping outside the building and lit a match to the garbage when the explosion occurred. The police said that a food cart in which a gas cylinder was kept was parked next to garbage.
According to the police, due to the explosion, the window panes of many houses were broken. The local residents rushed to the spot and immediately alerted the fire department. The fire engine rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire.
The injured Shah was taken to a nearby hospital where he was being treated. The police said they were looking for a cart vendor.
The local residents said that nowadays a gas cylinder has been illegally kept in a cart used for making food items, which is very dangerous in case of any untoward incident. The residents were fearful after the gas cylinder explosion incident was reported. No casualties have been reported.
