Forbesganj/Araria, 9 December (Hindustan Reporter). Every year floods in Seemanchal cause crop loss worth crores of rupees. At the same time, people are migrating out of Seemanchal on a large scale in search of employment. At the same time, agriculture-based industry and lack of permanent solution to floods are the main reasons for the plight, poverty, unemployment and migration in all the districts of this Seemanchal. These things were said by Sarfaraz Alam, former MP of Araria and former Land Reforms Revenue Minister of Bihar Government.
He said that if both the picture and destiny of Seemanchal are to be changed, there is a need to work seriously on the problem of floods coming every year from the neighboring country Nepal. He said that despite the floods, the land of Seemanchal is still the most fertile among other districts of Bihar. Every type of cultivable land is available on the land here. If agro-based industries for farmers are set up in these four districts of Seemanchal, then Seemanchal can become a golden bird. Similarly, Sarfaraz Alam said that maize cultivation is being done here on a large scale for the last ten years. If food processing industry is established along with maize based industry, then this entire border region will move towards development very fast.
Former MP Sarfaraz Alam said that Seemanchal has today become the hub of maize farming. Here, along with maize, banana, pineapple and makhana are being cultivated on a large scale. Apart from this, apart from bamboo based industry, there is immense potential for fish farming here. In such a situation, if a blue print and action plan is made in the field of agriculture and work is done on it, then agricultural production will not only increase but it will also increase the income of farmers, employment opportunities and migration will be stopped. Sarfaraz Alam demanded a permanent solution to floods and setting up various types of agriculture-based industries to stop the plight of Seemanchal from the Central Government and Bihar Government.
