The Joint CSIR-UGC NET Examination registration period has begun today, December 9 by the National Testing Agency (NTA) (December 2024). Candidates can apply for the exam till December 30. The exam is scheduled to begin from February 16.

The CSIR UGC NET (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test) is a national-level examination used to assess candidates’ eligibility for Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and Lectureship.

Application fees

The application fees for General category is Rs 1150, while for EWS/OBC(NCL) the application fees is Rs 600. The application fees for SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender is Rs 325.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the CSIR UGC NET 2024 exam, candidates must be Indian citizens. The upper age limit for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) is 28 years, relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/PwD and female candidates, while there’s no upper age limit for Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professor.

Candidates must have an MSc or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD candidates). PhD holders who passed their master’s degree before September 19, 1991, with at least 50% marks are eligible for Lectureship only.

-Go to the official CSIR UGC NET website, csirnet.nta.ac.in.
-If the “CSIR UGC NET December 2024” registration link appears on the homepage, locate and click it.
Candidates must first register when a new window opens.

-Log in to your account after finishing the registration process.
-Finish the application and pay the needed application fee.
-Verify all of the information and submit the form as requested.

Important dates

Application window: December 9 , 2024 till December 30, 2024

Last date for fees payment: December 31, 2024

Application correction window: January 1, 2025 till January 2, 2025

Exam: February 16, 2025 till February 28, 2025

Clearing the exam makes one eligible for a JRF fellowship of ₹31,000 per month + HRA for 2 years or for lectureship in Indian universities and colleges.
