Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Western Railway is entrusted with the responsibility of security of railway property, passengers, passenger area, etc. Recently, Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Western Railway detected a case of uploading of reel on social media platforms wherein some youngsters were engaged in trespassing the railway tracks. The railway track is meant for the movement of trains and general public is requested not to endanger their lives by coming over the railway tracks for making reels & videos. This is not only life-threatening but also a criminal offense.
According to press release issued by Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the RPF team at Bhayander station received information from the Security Control Room, Mumbai Central about an incident regarding a reel uploaded on social media platforms which was undertaken at Bhayandar station. On the basis of the information, Rohtas Singh, SIPF/Bhayander along with his team and with assistance from City Police Station, investigated the matter and apprehended five individuals involved in the activity. The accused individuals were brought to the RPF office, where their statements were recorded. During interrogation, they confessed to trespassing into Bhayandar station premises to create reels for promotion of their products. Consequently, cases were registered against them under Section 147 and Section 145(B) of the Railway Act (CR Nos. 2476/2024 to 2480/2024). The individuals were issued notices under section 35(3) of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and subsequently released. They have been directed to appear before the Judicial Magistrate First Class Court (JMFC) at Vasai Road for further legal proceedings. They also tendered apology for their reckless behaviour and have assured not to repeat this mistake, through another video wherein they are also urging people not to cross tracks or shoot videos unauthorizedly. This apology video is available over all social media platforms of Western Railway.
Western Railway appeals to public not to endanger their lives by making reels/videos of stunts or by clicking selfies near/ on the tracks. WR reiterates its commitment to maintaining safety and security within its premises and urges the public to refrain from engaging in unauthorized activities that disrupt railway operations.
