Over 40 schools in Delhi, including the Delhi Public School in RK Puram and GD Goenka Public School in Paschim Vihar, received hoax bomb threats through emails late on Sunday night.
After searching and combing the premises of several schools, the police on Monday declared the threats to be hoaxes, as nothing suspicious was found during the checks.
According to the threat mail accessed by news agency ANI, the sender stated, “I planted multiple bombs inside the school buildings. The bombs are small and hidden very well. They will not cause much damage to the buildings, but many people will be injured when the bombs detonate. If I do not receive $30,000, I will detonate the bombs.”
Earlier today, it was reported that the school administrations of DPS RK Puram and GD Goenka School in Paschim Vihar sent the students back to their homes.
Vipin Malhotra, the father of a student at GD Goenka Public School, told ANI that he received a call from the school management half an hour after his son reached school, informing him about the incident.
Former Delhi Chief Minister and national convener of the AAP, Arvind Kejriwal, responded to the hoax threat and criticized the Union Home Minister over the incident.
In a post on X, Kejriwal said, “The people of Delhi have never seen such a bad state of law and order in Delhi before. Amit Shah ji should come and answer to the people of Delhi.”
