Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A western disturbance is expected to bring rain to the eastern parts of state over the next 24 hours. Thirteen districts, including Jabalpur, may experience rainfall, while chilly winds will sweep across the Gwalior-Chambal division. Cold weather will also affect Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain.
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain is predicted in Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Katni, Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur, Umaria, Shahdol, and Singrauli.
While rain and clouds will dominate the eastern part of the state, the northern and western regions will experience colder temperatures. Snowy winds from the mountains will reach the Gwalior-Chambal area, making it feel even colder. Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain will also experience a sharp drop in temperature.
Weather expert V.S. Yadav stated that due to the western disturbance, the weather in northern and hilly areas could change, leading to snowfall in some regions. The melted snow will bring cold winds to the state. The eastern region may experience rainfall on December 8.
Weather Forecast:
The weather will remain unpredictable until December 15, with alternating periods of heavy cold, rain, and cloudy skies. The cold wave will become more intense after December 20 and will last until January. This period will see cold winds affecting the state for up to 20-22 days, with the most severe cold in Ujjain and Gwalior-Chambal due to the arrival of chilly winds.
According to trends from 2014 to 2023, the second half of December sees a significant drop in temperatures in cities like Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, and Ujjain. Gwalior usually experiences the sharpest decline, with temperatures dropping as low as 1.8°C in the past decade. Other cities also recorded temperatures below 5°C during this period.
Weather in Major Cities:
In Indore, the day temperature dropped slightly, recording 28°C, and the night temperature fell to 14°C. In Bhopal, the weather has been clear with sunshine, and the cold was not very strong. The temperature across the state has fallen again after a brief relief, with the night temperature in many cities dropping below 10°C.
Cities such as Shadol, Singrauli, Rewa, and Satna recorded temperatures between 8°C to 9.9°C, while Gwalior, Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and Jabalpur also saw a drop in the night temperature.
