Team India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was witnessed sharing a lighthearted moment with Australia’s legendary cricketer Adam Gilchrist ahead of the start on Day 3 in the Adelaide Test. The moment happened while the Indian team was warming up for the day’s play and Gilchrist was busy with media duties.
Pant walked towards him from back and blindfolded the Australian great. “He caught me by surprise there,” Gilchrist said later with a smile, looking at the incident that was caught on camera. “I didn’t know who that was behind me.” The clip of the same has gone viral.
Gilchrist is widely regarded as the greatest wicket-keeper to play the sport. He played 96 Tests for Australia and made 5570 runs at an average of 47.60 with 17 centuries. In 287 ODIs, he made 9619 runs at an average of 35.89 with 16 centuries.
Australia level series after Adelaide win
After conquering Perth, Team India failed to stamp their authority in Adelaide as they suffered a crushing 10-wicket defeat. The match ended on Day 3 with India losing their remaining five wickets inside the first session itself to set target of 19 runs to chase. Australia easily chased the target to level the five-Test Border Gavaskar Trophy at 1-1.
The match started with India, scoring just 180 in their first innings. Australia replied with 337 all out, thanks to Travis Head’s aggressive knock of 140 off 141 balls and took a 157-run first-innings lead in their first innings. India in their reply were folded up for 175 in their second innings, with Pat Cummins taking a fifer leaving the Aussies with just 19 runs required to win. The third Test begins on December 14 in Brisbane.
