Day two was yet another a moving one at the Adelaide Oval, with Australia tightening their grip further on the contest to give themselves a real chance of levelling the five-Test series. Travis Head’s whirlwind 140 off only 141 deliveries gave Australia a healthy 157-run lead and the bowlers followed it up by striking regularly to put the tourists on the back foot.
With India’s last recognised batting pair of Rishabh Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy and the visitors still trailing by 29 runs, they have their task cut out. Nevertheless, India should back themselves to set up a tricky chase in what is likely to be fairly good batting conditions in the afternoon.
