A 52-year-old auto rickshaw driver suffered injuries after being hit by a car in Ranjnoli Naka in Bhiwandi on Thursday. The injured driver has been identified as Mohammad Murtuja Allabakhar Shaikh, 52, a resident of Nadi Naka, Wada Road in Bhiwandi.
The incident took place at Ranjnoli naka on Bhiwandi Kalyan road on Thursday afternoon when Shaikh was on his auto rickshaw heading towards Kalyan when car hit him recklessly hit him and sped away from spot.
The local residents rushed to the spot and alerted the police about the accident. The driver, Shaikh, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was being treated. He suffered serious injuries to his hand and chest.
A complaint was filed by an injured driver against a car driver. The Kongaon police lodged a case under section 281, (Rash driving) 125(A), (B), 324 (4)(5) of the Bhartiya Nyan Sanhita and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.
Police official from Kongaon Police Station said, “We have received a registration number of the car. We will trace the driver soon.”
