Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman and his wife, Saira, shocked everyone by announcing their separation after 29 years of marriage. Ever since he announced the news, several rumours surfaced on social media platforms and the Rahman family members have been quashing all of them. The singer had also asked for privacy.

However, it was recently reported that the actor might take a career break for a year. While Rahman has not reacted to the speculative reports yet, his daughter, Khatija Rahman, addressed them on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Reacting to one such report, Khatija wrote, “Please stop spreading such useless rumours.”

On November 20, Rahman shared his separation announcement on X and wrote, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter.”

He also added the hashtag ARR Sairaa Breakup, for which, he was brutally trolled.

A few days back, Rahman warned ‘slanderers’ against sharing defamatory posts on social media about his divorce and stated that he won’t hesitate from taking legal action.

A part of the lengthy legal notice by Rahman’s team read, “My client informs the hatemongers and sharers of abusive contents to remove the objectionable content within the next one hour and a maximum time duration of 24 hours, he will be advised to file appropriate criminal defamation case under Section 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and in such an event, the offenders are liable to be punished with an imprisonment of two years, with or without fine as the court may determine under Section 356 (2) of the said Act.”

Rahman and Saira got married in 1995 and share three children—Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen.
