The SFA Championships 2024 Mumbai saw teams battle it out for glory as an intense football tournament (Under-10 & Under-12) reached its conclusion. Bombay Scottish School, Mahim, were among the standouts on the day, securing a 3-1 victory over Fazlani L’Academie Globale, Mazgaon to take the gold in the girls u-12 category.
Sports For All (SFA) is committed to professionalising, organising, and monetising grassroots sports, aiming to foster a culture that values and invests in sports nationwide. The championships this year will run until December 12th, roping in participants from across Jaipur in a hunt for the best talents. This year, more than 21,000 athletes from 790 schools, ranging from ages 3 to 18, are competing across multiple venues in the city, highlighting the event’s remarkable growth and its commitment to nurturing young sporting talent.
The SFA Championships 2024 have brought a thrilling lineup of 27 sports to Mumbai for the seventh edition. Friday, Day 5, of the Championships in the city, also witnessed the continuation of the build-up toward medal events in basketball and wrestling, while the start of boxing, squash, table tennis, and taekwondo.
Elsewhere, on the tennis courts, Abir Sukhani of Vibgyor High, Goregaon, raced to the gold in boys u-10 tournament, while Soham Ghodke of VPM’s Vidya Mandir, Dahisar East accomplished the same in the u-12 category. Similarly, Aryahi Jhaveri of the Aditya Birla World Academy, Tardeo, topped the charts in the girls u-10 tournament. Moreover, Joanna Jesso of Bombay Scottish School, Powai, won the gold in the girls u-12 category.
Children’s Academy, Malad, leads the medal table after five days of action, having collected 10 gold, seven silver, and four bronze medals, and 86 points. In second place is Rustomjee Cambridge International School, Dahisar, ten points ahead of third-placed Children’s Academy, Thakur Complex, who complete the podium slots.
