Samar Purohit from Vivek Vidyalaya and Junior College won the gold medal in the boys’ U-13 Karate (46-50kg) event on day four of the SFA Championships 2024 on Thursday. Mohammad Taqui Saiyed from Fatima English School, Thane, meanwhile, secured silver.

On the karate mat, Nidhi Mali from NGV English Medium High School, Virar won gold in girls U-15 (-55kg) category, with Tisya Jhangiani from Lokhandwala Foundation School in Kandivali taking silver. In athletics, Jimmit Mehta from Children’s Academy, Malad, and Siddhesh Trilokar from Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan International School, secured gold and silver in boys u-16 Javelin Throw (700g), respectively. Meanwhile, Piyusha Lohar from New Ideal School Vasind won gold, while Aadrika Bhandhari from Bombay Scottish School in Mahim took silver, in the girls U-14 600m.

Furthermore, in the U-6 boys 50m, Vihaan Mehtal from Children’s Academy Malad and Mivavan Shah from Don Bosco International School, won gold and silver medals, respectively. In the girls u-8 50m, Durvi Shinde from CNM School, Vile Parle, won gold, followed by Ayden Ferdinando from St. Stanislaus International School, who won silver.

After Three days of action, Don Bosco High School (SSC), Matunga, leads the medal charts with 3 gold and 1 bronze medals, and 50 points. Rustomjee Cambridge International School, Dahisar, occupies the second spot with 42 points, two ahead of third-placed Swami Vivekanand High School & Jr College, Chembur.

The championships this year will run until December 12th, roping in participants from across Jaipur in a hunt for the best talents. This year, more than 21,000 athletes from 790 schools, ranging from ages 3 to 18, are competing across multiple venues in the city.
