Badnawar (Madhya Pradesh): Farmers in Badnawar launched a protest seeking the arrest of the accused involved in the murder of a young farmer recently.

The deceased, identified as Rajesh Panchal from Dhanasuta village, was brutally strangled to death by unknown assailants on November 27. He had come to Badnawar Mandi to sell his soybean. The attackers not only murdered him but also stole his tractor trolley loaded with soybean, selling it afterward.

Despite eight days of the incident, no substantial action has been taken by the police, leaving the local farmers frustrated and demanding justice.

Aggrieved farmers from nearby villages organised a sit-in protest in front of the Mandi gate on Thursday afternoon and also raised slogans for three hours.

The protest drew the attention of local officials, including SDM Deepak Chauhan, tehsildar Suresh Nagar, and SDOP Arvind Singh Tomar, who arrived at the scene. After discussions with the senior officials, the protesters agreed to end the demonstration following assurances regarding the investigation.

SDM announced that a special investigation team (SIT) would be formed to investigate the murder case. He assured that a compensation of Rs 4 lakh would be provided by the mandi board to the deceased’s kin.

Additionally, mandi employees also stepped in to offer financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to support aggrieved family during this difficult time. Farmer leader DP Dhakad, Karni Sena members and Congress leaders also joined the protest.
