WhatsApp is introducing new features focused on enhancing voice message interactions for group chats, as per the latest beta update for Android 2.24.25.22. Enhancements build upon previous updates, with improvements to user accessibility and interface.
A noteworthy addition is a floating action button above the message send button, simplifying the initiation of voice chats within groups; users previously had to use the top action bar or group chat info screen. The update also includes a gesture-based feature, enabling voice chat to start automatically when a user scrolls up during conversations, fostering user engagement.
The update expands voice chat usage to smaller groups, allowing even two participants. To maintain organization, WhatsApp will automatically terminate inactive groups after 60 minutes, yet users can still notify participants to join during an active chat. Currently, select beta testers have access to these features, with broader rollout expected in the following weeks, although they are not yet available publicly.
Additionally, the update improves user experience by facilitating custom chat list management directly from the chat interface, featuring an organized layout with accessible filters. While currently limited to beta testers, widespread availability is anticipated soon, though an official release date remains unannounced.
