Ticket checkers of Central Railways Mumbai division will now not only verify tickets but also educate passengers about essential travel etiquette. This move aims to promote a safer, cleaner, and more comfortable travel environment for passengers. 

As part of this initiative, ticket checkers of Central Railways’ Mumbai division will now carry handheld speakers to deliver important messages in Hindi and Marathi. These messages will include encouraging passengers to travel with valid tickets and proper identification and use their phones in a considerate manner that does not disturb others.

According to CR, under this initiative ticket checkers will urge passengers to accompany their children, especially when using the toilet. They will also appeal to passengers not to board or deboard a running train. Furthermore, ticket checkers will provide helpful contact details to passengers for reporting issues related to air-conditioning, charging, and cleanliness in coaches. Passengers will be encouraged to keep coaches clean by disposing of waste in designated dustbins. Additionally, ticket checkers will appeal to passengers to use their phones in a considerate manner that does not disturb others.

On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, handheld speakers were distributed to ticket-checking staff at the TTE Lobby, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). This event was attended by Dharam Veer Meena, General Manager of Central Railway, and Rajnish Goyal, Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai division and senior officials. 

“The handheld speakers will enable ticket-checking staff to communicate vital safety and essential information directly to passengers. This initiative aims to improve passenger awareness and ensure a safe and comfortable journey” said an official of CR.

Dharamveer Meena, General Manager, highlighted the importance of effective communication in ensuring passenger safety and comfort. He stated that these handheld speakers will assist ticket-checking staff in providing timely and valuable information to passengers, contributing to a more pleasant and secure journey.
