In a shocking incident, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson, was fatally shot in the chest outside the Hilton hotel in New York’s Midtown in the US, several news reports suggested on Wednesday.
As per reports, Thompson was rushed to a near by hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.
As per early reports, the incident happened after 50-year-old Thompson came early for an investment meeting organised by UnitedHealth Group, UnitedHealthcare’s parent firm.
A disguised suspect is said to have waited for Thompson at about 6:46 a.m. before shooting him many times. According to reports, Thompson was hit in the chest and sent to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, where he was ultimately declared deceased.
After the gunshot, the attacker ran eastward off Sixth Avenue, according to law enforcement officials in a statement to the media.
The suspect, described as a Caucasian guy, was carrying a gray bag and was dressed in a cream-colored jacket, black face mask, and black-and-white sneakers.
