Washington: Something has come to light which no one had noticed till now. Ukraine, which emerged as a ‘separate nation’ after the collapse of the Soviet Union, handed over its nuclear weapons to the US under an agreement in which it was assured that the US, England and Russia would stand by its defence. Under these agreements, Ukraine is waging war against Russia. As the war escalates, will the US return its nuclear weapons to Ukraine as a ‘deposit’? Since that question is being seriously discussed, America’s National Security Advisor Jack Sullivan, in response to a question asked by journalists in a press conference, said that no such plan is being considered.
Ukraine, a nation that broke away after the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991, was considered the world’s third nuclear power at that time. It was persuaded to hand over its nuclear energy reserves to the US. In return, America, England and Russia together took the responsibility of protecting it.
Now the situation is even more complicated that Ukraine is at war with Russia, which once ensured the security of Ukraine, in which the US and its ‘NATO’ allies are also helping Ukraine, US National Security Advisor Jack Sullivan has already He shrugged off the question and said that there was no such thing.
If that happens, observers say, it would fundamentally change the war in Ukraine, making the threat of nuclear war even more apparent to the world.
