The Children’s Train is an upcoming Italian language film starring Barbara Ronchi as Derna and Christian Cervone as Amerigo Speranza in the lead roles. The film had its premiere at the 19th Rome Film Festival on October 20, 2024. It will be released on OTT in December 2024.

Plot
The film is set in post-World War II Italy and centres around Antonietta Speranza, who decides to send his seven-year-old boy, Amerigo, to live with a wealthier host family in northern Italy. The film shows how a mother makes a difficult choice just for the sake of her child’s future and how this decision offers Amerigo a chance to escape the harsh poverty of his home and experience a life filled with new opportunities and struggles.
Throughout his journey, the film explores the themes of a beautiful bond between a mother and her son, and the emotional impact of separation on both children and parents.
