Bagh (Madhya Pradesh): In a significant move to support local farmers, a demand letter was submitted to collector Priyank Mishra, advocating for the availability and cash distribution of fertiliser. The letter, presented by Bagh Agriculture Committee president and BJP Scheduled Tribes Front IT Cell district coordinator Antar Singh Kannauj, highlights the pressing need for urea fertiliser in Bagh and Tanda areas.
During discussions with the collector, Kannauj emphasised the importance of ensuring a steady supply of fertilizer to alleviate the challenges faced by farmers due to ongoing shortages. He urged the establishment of a cash fertiliser distribution centre to facilitate timely access to fertilisers for farmers in the Bagh development block.
The demand letter, submitted in the presence of Janpad member Karam Singh Mori, pointed out that last year’s cash distribution model significantly benefitted farmers, allowing them to purchase fertilisers at reasonable prices, which in turn eased their irrigation efforts. However, the current shortage is hindering their ability to manage irrigation for the Rabi crop effectively.
Kannauj reiterated the necessity for immediate action, calling for regular inspections as mandated by government orders to guarantee fertiliser supply. He urged the authorities to prioritise the establishment of cash fertiliser centres in both Bagh and Tanda to ensure farmers can continue their agricultural activities without disruption.
