Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A poster opposing the Islamic WAQF Board was spotted on the boundary wall of Kushabhau Thackeray Minto Hall in Bhopal on Saturday. The poster features the slogan  “WAQF Hatao, Bharat Bachao’ (Remove WAQF to Save India) in large font.

The source of the poster and other details regarding the people involved are yet to be ascertained.

The poster surfaced amid controversies surrounding WAQF Amendment Bill 2024. The bill aims to seek more transparency in the working of the WAQF board—Islamic charitable trust—across the country. It calls for registering the WAQF land with collectors to know their actual value. Currently, the WAQF Board owns 9.4 lakh acres of land across India—the third largest land owner after railways and the Army.

Co-incidentally, the poster surfaced on the day when a Hindu youth event is organised in Indore.
