Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Harbhajan Singh (61), retired superintendent engineer of IMC and the complainant in the infamous honey trap case, died under mysterious circumstances at his parental place in Rewa on Friday. His maid and her son rushed him to the hospital, but it was too late. Superintendent of Police (Rewa) Vivek Singh informed Free Press that after his condition deteriorated on Friday afternoon, his maid informed her son, who reached there and took Singh to the hospital where he was declared dead.
After his retirement, Harbhajan was staying at his ancestral house in Rewa with his wife. At the time of the incident, Harbhajan Singh was alone in the house, his wife was in Punjab and his son was in Indore.
SP Singh said that if family members insist then they will perform an autopsy, possibly on Saturday. Harbhajan retired from IMC a year ago and since then, he has been staying in Rewa. Further investigation is underway into the case.
Honey Trap case started after Harbhajan’s complaint
Five years ago, the honey trap case came to light after an FIR was lodged based on a complaint by Harbhajan Singh. He had stated in the complaint that some women were blackmailing him in the name of a lurid video recording. Later, the police arrested four women from Bhopal and Indore. Later, one of the accused women had lodged a complaint of rape against Harbhajan. After the FIR against Harbhajan, the department had suspended him.
Eight accused including six women
Police had lodged a case against eight people including six women including Aarti Dayal, Shweta Vijay Jain, Shweta Swapnil Jain and another woman. Car driver Omprakash was also made an accused. All were arrested and later all of them got bail. Two other youths were also accused in this case. According to the FIR, one of the accused women from Bhopal made an 18-year-old BSc student develop intimacy with Harbhajan. Then the accused woman made a video of both of them on her mobile in a city hotel. After that, they reportedly started blackmailing Harbhajan.
