Bankura, 29 November (Hindustan Reporter). The court on Friday ordered life imprisonment to two accused in the brutal murder of a neighbour. The names of the accused are Somnath Mandal and Raghunath Mandal. On Friday, based on the statements of witnesses, District Chief Sessions Judge Manojyoti Bhattacharya ordered life imprisonment.
Bankura District Court government lawyer Arun Kumar Chatterjee said that Rabindranath Mandal (65) was murdered in Churam.pur village of Onda police station on July 2, 2018 due to old enmity.
On July 2, Rabindranath was getting work done by Munish on his land. He was taking Mudhi for Munish. Then Gopal Mandal and his sons Somnath and Raghunath of the same village attacked Rabindranath Mandal with a spade, scissors and bamboo sticks. Bachchu Singh, Sushant Pal and Kanai Bagri of the village started shouting after seeing this incident from a distance. Hearing their screams, people gathered. The accused Rabindranath ran away leaving Manda. Rabindranath was taken to Unda Super Specialty Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
Before this incident, the accused had a dispute with Rabindranath regarding the route. At that time Rabindranath had filed a complaint in his name at Unda police station. There were a total of 22 witnesses in this case. The case was registered under sections 302, 34 of the Indian Penal Code. Gopal Mandal died during the hearing.
