Hazaribagh, 29 November (Hindustan Reporter). The delegation of District PACS Association met Sadar MLA Pradeep Prasad on Friday. During this, he submitted a memorandum regarding the major problems of the farmers of Hazaribagh district.

The memorandum mainly demanded a ban on sending paddy from the district to other states and taking steps beneficial for the farmers. He told the MLA that middlemen buy their paddy from farmers at very low prices and send it to other states through rakes from Hazaribagh railway station. This not only causes economic loss to the farmers, but the state government also suffers huge revenue loss.

Officials said that the paddy procurement target set by the Jharkhand government is being affected due to middlemen sending paddy to other states. At present the paddy crop is ready in the first week of November. Due to lack of adequate storage facilities, farmers are forced to sell paddy at low prices to middlemen. To solve this problem, a demand has been made to open paddy procurement purchasing centers from November 15, as before, so that farmers can get fair price for their crops.

In the memorandum, it was demanded that keeping in mind the interest of the farmers, the district administration should start the process of opening paddy procurement centers as soon as possible. MLA Pradeep Prasad seriously listened to the concerns of the District PACS Association and assured that he will soon talk to the concerned officials on this issue. He said that solving the problems of farmers is our priority. I will ensure that necessary steps are taken in this matter immediately.
