Nashik: Farmer Arrested for Cannabis Cultivation; 215 kg Ganja Worth Over ₹12 Lakh Seized in Raid |
Upon receiving information that cannabis was being cultivated in a field in Tapanpada Dudhkhed Shivara, the local crime branch and the Vadnerbhairav police team raided the farm of farmer Ravindra Namdev Gangurde (40).
During the raid, they seized 65 cannabis plants weighing 215 kg, valued at ₹12.93 lakh, and arrested Gangurde.
Police Inspector Raju Surve of the local crime branch had received a secret tip-off that Gangurde was cultivating cannabis in his own field in Tapanpada Dudhkhed Shivara. Acting on the information, the local crime branch and Vadnerbhairav police conducted the raid and discovered the cannabis plants.
Gangurde was found to have illegally cultivated marijuana plants within his tomato plantation with the intent of selling them. A case has been registered against him at Vadnerbhairav Police Station under Sections 20 and 22 of the NDPS Act.
The police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine where and to whom Gangurde intended to sell the marijuana. The raid was carried out under the guidance of District Superintendent of Police Vikram Deshmane, Additional Superintendent of Police Nashik Rural Aditya Mirkhelkar, and .ket Bharti. The team included Local Crime Branch Police Inspector Raju Surve, Assistant Police Inspector Dinkar Mundhe, Sub-Inspector Prakash Jadhav, Navnath Sanap.
