The Indian team made a great start to its campaign by defeating Thailand by a huge margin of 11-0 in the Junior Asia Cup Hockey. For current champion India, Arajit Singh Hundal scored field goals in the second and 24th minutes, Gurjot Singh in the 18th and 45th minutes, Saurabh Kushwaha in the 19th and 52nd minutes, Arshdeep Singh in the eighth, Dilraj Singh in the 21st and Mukesh Toppo in the 50th minute.
Shardanand Tiwari scored on a penalty corner in the 10th minute and Rohit scored on a penalty stroke in the 29th minute. Group A includes India along with Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Group B includes Pakistan, Malaysia, China, Bangladesh and Oman. India scored three goals in the first quarter against Thailand and made the match one-sided by taking an 8-0 lead at half time. Korea has played two matches and won both and topped Group A with a total of six points with a difference of seven goals. India and Japan are at second and third position with 3 goals each in a match.
