India-Canada Relations: Relations between India and Canada are continuously deteriorating. Meanwhile, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh has given a big statement. Officials at the Indian Consulate in Vancouver were recently informed by Canadian authorities that their audio and video were being monitored, the central government said on Thursday. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirtivardhan Singh gave this information to the Rajya Sabha in a written reply to a question.
“Recently, officials of the Indian Consulate in Vancouver were informed by Canadian authorities that their audio and video were being monitored and their personal correspondence was also being monitored,” he said.

Minister of State for External Affairs Kirtivardhan Singh said this

Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said the Indian government lodged a strong protest on this issue with the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi on November 2, 2024 as the act was a gross violation of all diplomatic provisions. The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also told the media in his weekly briefing that the Canadian government cannot justify the fact that it is harassing and threatening by citing technicalities. Our diplomats and embassy staff are already working in an environment of extremism and violence. This action by the Government of Canada escalates the situation and is not in line with established diplomatic norms and practices.

Indian government is in touch with Canada

The Minister said that on the issue of security of Indian diplomats in Canada, the Government of India is in constant touch with Canada to ensure that our diplomatic personnel and properties are provided adequate security at all times. Responding to another question, he said that India’s relations with Canada have been and will remain challenging because the government there gives political shelter to extremist and separatist elements who support anti-India agenda.

Abdul Wahab asked the question

Abdul Wahab of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) questioned the Ministry of External Affairs whether this was true or whether India’s relations with Canada had deteriorated. In response, Singh said, ‘India’s relationship with Canada has been and will remain challenging because the Canadian government provides political asylum to extremist and separatist elements and individuals who support anti-India agenda and abuse India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Continue to do. ‘Freedom for Canada to conduct violent activities.’
