Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A man from Dewas was arrested for snatching a gold chain from an elderly woman in the Pardesipura area on Thursday. The woman was sitting at her shop when the accused entered the shop on the pretext of buying chocolate. Additional DCP (zone-2) Amrendra Singh said that the woman was robbed of her gold chain on October 25 when she was at her shop in Clerk Colony. The accused had come on a red scooter.
The police searched the CCTVs of various places and found that the accused fled to Dewas. He was last seen on CCTV near Sayaji Gate in Dewas and after that he disappeared. A team was constituted for the identification and arrest of the accused. The team started a search for the red scooter and information was received that a suspect was seen near ITI Square on a red scooter.
The police reached the mentioned place and arrested the accused Ajay Malviya, a resident of Gujar Bapcha village in Dewas district. He was staying in the Kulkarni Ka Bhatta area in the city for a few months. He allegedly confessed to robbing the elderly woman in the Clerk Colony area. He also informed the police that he had stolen ornaments and the scooter from a house in Ujjain too on October 24.
A case was registered against him at Chimanganj police station there. More than three dozen crimes like attempt to murder, assault, robbery, burglary etc have been registered against the accused in various police stations of the city and Ujjain. Pardesipura police arrested the accused and seized goods worth about Rs 1.5 lakh. The accused is being questioned for other such crimes.
