Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh has achieved a major success in getting a huge amount of coal. The Central government has approved coal allotment for 4,100 MW thermal power plant on the demand of the state’s energy department. The state may get and investment worth Rs 25,000 crore after the thermal power plant is set up in the state following the allotment of coal.

The previous allotment of coal was done for 1,360-MW power plant in 2019. After five years, the Central Government has increased the allotment of coal on the basis of the state’s demand.

Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the energy department Neeraj Mandloi gave a presentation on behalf of the state government at a meeting with the officials in Delhi on Wednesday. The meeting was held to discuss the demand for power for a long time in the coming days. According to Mandloi, after the allotment of coal, the process for issuing tender for the proposed plant will start from the next month.

According to him, the allocation of coal will help the state set up the new plant that will fetch investments and create direct and indirect job opportunities. After the new power plant is set up, industries, farmers and general consumers will get electricity at cheaper rates. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allotting coal for thermal power plant through Standing Linkage Committee. This will bring investments and fulfill the demands in power sector, he said.
