Mumbai: To ensure a smooth and safe experience for the devotees visiting Chaitya Bhoomi in Dadar, Mumbai, on December 6, 2024, the railway authorities have announced special arrangements. According to (Government Railway Police) GRP official, to prevent overcrowding and ensure commuter safety, certain bridges and entrances will be closed or restricted.

“The 67th Death Anniversary of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar is being observed on 6th December, 2024 i.e. “ Mahaparinirvan Din” and for that large numbers of followers of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar are likely to visit Chaitya Bhoomi, Dadar, Mumbai every year by long distance and suburban trains to pay homage to him by visiting his Samadhi. The number of passengers is currently 75 to 80 lakh. With the number of new pass holders increasing daily, this number is expected to reach 90 to 95 lakh by December 6. As a result, on 05th and 06th December the regular passengers of the train and the followers who came for darshan will come together, so there will be a huge crowd gathered in the Railway station area. In view of this congregation on such large scale at and around in Dadar Central and Western Railway Station premises, the movement of the Railway commuter traffic will be effected on adjoining pedestrian bridges in the vicinity of Dadar Central and Western Railway Station premises. Therefore, In order to prevent danger, obstructions, inconvenience to the Railway Commuter and to properly regulate the crowd during this period, also for the safety of railway passengers & followers of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar government railway police has issued a special traffic advisory for the period from midnight of 05 December (00.01 am) to the mid night of 06th December (24.00 hours) at Dadar Central and Western Railway stations within the jurisdiction of Mumbai Railway police Commissionerate” read the statement issued by Government Railway Police on Thursday.

Key Orders for Crowd Regulation at Dadar

Central Large bridge connecting Dadar Central and Western Railway Station East-West

All entrances to the railway station from the city limits on Central Large Bridge, which connected to Dadar Central and Western Railway Stations from East-West side on platform no.12 will be closed for followers and passengers.

The bridge will be open only for passengers arriving to Dadar Station by suburban /mail trains to exit to the city limits on east-west side and also for going from one platform to another platform of Dadar Central and Western Railway Station.

Skywalk Bridge:

The bridge will remain open for all commuters to reach the platforms at Dadar railway station and also open to entry/exit from city limit.

This bridge will remain open for all commuters arriving at Dadar Central and Western Railway station for exit in city limits to East-West side.

Municipal Corporation Bridge

The bridge will remain open for commuters arriving on the platforms at Dadar railway station from the East-West city limits outside the station.

The Central Pedestrian Bridge

Central Pedestrian Bridge in the jurisdiction of Central Railway will remain open for passengers alighting on the platform at Dadar Central Railway Station to change platforms as well as access to the East-West city limits.

The pedestrian bridge connecting the Central and Western stations on the north side of the large bridge will remain open for the passengers arriving to the Railway Station through the gate.

All the entrances (except Gate no. 2 & 3 nearby Skywalk bridge) of Dadar Western Railway Station platform no.1 will remain closed for railway passengers and followers to come to the platforms from city limits.

The lame/blind footbridge at Dadar Western Railway Station platform no.1 will remain closed for westbound to eastbound train passengers and followers coming from the city limits.

Bridge nearby south side of Skywalk (Western Railway)

Passengers alighting on Dadar Western Railway Station Platform No.2/3, 4/5 will be able to reach this bridge and go east and west in the city limits via Skywalk. Passengers will also be able to enter Central Railway Station Platform No. 9/10, 10A/11, 12 and 13/14. Entry will be open on this bridge from the stairs on platform number 1 and by lift.

These restrictions will be in place from 00:01 on December 5, 2024, to 24:00 on December 6, 2024.
