Mumbai: The Central Railways (CR) is also set to receive a brand-new air-conditioned (AC) local train. The freshly manufactured, fully walkthrough 12-car AC rake with modern underslung electrical systems was dispatched from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) on Wednesday.
The new train is expected to arrive in Mumbai within a couple of days, marking a major step forward in enhancing commuter comfort and convenience.
According to sources, this latest addition will be the 7th AC local train in CR’s fleet, which currently operates 66 services with AC rakes. The walkthrough design of the train allows seamless movement between all 12 coaches, a feature aimed at improving passenger experience and safety. The underslung electricals, which house major electrical components under the coach floor, offer more spacious interiors and reduce noise levels.
A Central Railways official expressed enthusiasm about the development, stating, “The new AC rake will strengthen our fleet and meet the growing demand for modern, comfortable, and efficient train services in Mumbai.”
The introduction of AC locals on Central Railway (CR) was initially met with resistance from non-AC commuters. However, over time, the air-conditioned locals have gained immense popularity among the certain group of commuters and number of AC Commuters start growing day by day on CR.
