Pension Scheme: Now about 5.3 lakh people will get the benefit of Delhi Government’s Old Age Pension Scheme. To avail the benefits of this scheme, online application can be made. For this, the government has launched an online portal. 80,000 such elderly people are being included in the scope of this scheme, who till now were out of the scope of this scheme. So far 10,000 people have applied through the online portal. This portal will remain active for 3 weeks or maximum till the applications of 80,000 people are received. People aged 60 years and above are entitled to pension

Under this scheme, people between 60 to 69 years of age will get Rs 2,000 every month. Senior citizens aged 69 years or above will get a pension of Rs 2,500 every month. People from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and minority communities will get an additional Rs 500 every month. This scheme of Delhi government is very good in terms of financial security of the elderly. This will especially benefit the elderly people from weaker economic sections.

To avail the benefits of this scheme, you can apply on the e-district portal www.edistrict.delhigovt.nic.in. Registration will have to be done through citizen login. You can also apply for this scheme through the District Social Welfare Office of your area. Aadhaar number is necessary to fill the application. Apart from this, some other documents will also be required. Scanned copies of these documents will have to be uploaded on the portal. These include age certificate, address certificate, bank account and caste certificate.

These are the conditions to apply

Any person who has been living in Delhi for at least 5 years can apply under this scheme. Secondly, the annual income of the individual should be less than Rs 1,00,000. It is necessary to have a bank account to apply. This account can be in any bank. The person should not be already receiving any pension, assistance from the Central Government or State Government or financial assistance from any local body.
